Frequently asked
What is the difference between the Medium and Plush models besides the feel?
We reorganized foam layers and swapped some Support Foam with High Density Memory Foam for 0.5” more total profile and 2X more High Density Gel Memory Foam in the Plush model than the Medium model. The changes result in a softer mattress to best accommodate side sleepers and those looking for a cloud-like experience.
Why is the Mint Luxe Collection more expensive than the other mattresses?
Only in the Mint Luxe Collection will you find an Extra Cooling Cover with 50% more cooling fibers than Mint Hybrid II and the ultra-breathable T&N Flex™ foam that work together to help you feel up to 10 degrees cooler*. Another component unique to this Collection is our durable High Density Gel Memory Foam for a deeply pressure-relieving sleep night after night.
*Compared to a standard memory foam of a similar density in the place of T&N Flex™ foam within a mattress
What firmness level is the Mint Luxe Hybrid?
The Mint Luxe Hybrid comes in Medium and Plush options.
- The Medium feel is the perfect balance of structure and comfort that works great for all sleepers.
- The Plush feel provides cushioning comfort without sinking into the mattress, making it ideal for side sleepers.
How tall is the Mint Luxe Hybrid?
The Mint Luxe Hybrid comes in a 14.5” profile (Medium feel) and a 15” profile (Plush feel).
Do I need deep-pocket sheets for this mattress?
No. Standard pocket sheets work perfectly with this mattress.
What is T&N Flex™ foam?
Our ultra breathable foam provides 40% more airflow and 55% more responsivity than memory foam, while offering the same amount of pressure relief. It firms the deeper you settle into the mattress, so lighter and heavier bodies get the right level of pressure relief. Paired with our Extra Cooling Cover, it helps make the mattress up to 10 degrees cooler.
*Comparing a mattress with standard memory foam of similar density in the place of T&N Flex™ foam.
How can I choose the right T&N firmness level?
Your sleep position is the best place to start:
- Side Sleepers: Usually love Medium or Plush options because they offer extra cushioning on the shoulders and hips.
- Back and Stomach Sleepers: Often do best with a Firm feel that keeps the body supported and comfortable.
- Combination Sleepers: A Medium or Medium Firm feel is often the sweet spot, giving you a blend of cushioning and support as you change positions throughout the night
The best firmness comes down to how you sleep, what feels comfortable to you, and whether you're sharing the bed with someone who has their own sleep opinions (we know the struggle). As a general rule:
- Like a little more support and less sink? A Firm feel is often a great fit for back and stomach sleepers.
- Prefer more cushioning and pressure relief? A Medium or Plush feel can provide extra comfort around your shoulders and hips.
What is the difference between a Hybrid and Foam mattress?
The main difference between a Hybrid and All Foam Mattress is the materials used in their construction. Foam Mattresses are entirely made with layers of foam, while Hybrid Mattresses combine foam layers with coils
- Hybrid Mattresses feature an individually wrapped coil system at the bottom of the mattress for enhanced motion control and durability with pressure relieving foams on top for breathability.
- All Foam Mattresses are made of entirely foam layers supported by a durable Base Foam at the bottom of the mattress for contouring support and pressure relief on shoulders and hips.
Does Tuft & Needle use fiberglass in its mattresses?
No. Our mattresses are all free of fiberglass.
What materials are used in the mattress fire barrier?
The mattress includes a fire-resistant barrier sewn into the top panel, made from rayon fibers treated with ammonium phosphate to help meet flammability standards.
Do I need a box spring?
Nope. Your mattress doesn't need a box spring, but it does need a solid, supportive foundation like a platform bed, slatted frame, or adjustable base.
Do I need to flip or rotate my mattress?
No, you don't need to flip your mattress. A quick rotation every six months is all we recommend for even wear. Just keep the patterned side facing up and you're good to go.
How long can the mattress stay boxed?
It shouldn't stay boxed for more than 3-4 weeks; however, we recommend unboxing and setting up your Tuft & Needle mattress as soon as it arrives. The longer a mattress stays compressed, the more stress it can put on the foam. If you leave it boxed for more than a week, don't worry. It may just take a little longer to fully expand once unboxed, but you can still start sleeping on it within 2-3 hours of setup. Life happens, we get it.
